Events & Communications Specialist
Posted: 12/18/2024Status: Full-time exempt, in person
Schedule: M-F, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., a few evenings/Saturdays
Environment: Professional Office
Event and Leadership Programs Management
- Help to manage and coordinate all aspects of Leadership Dublin, Leadership Academy, and iCare, iServe, iLead youth program. Increase community exposure of these programs and effectively lead marketing/communications related to these programs.
- Lead the planning, promotion, and attend Chamber events, including Taste of Dublin, Dublin Corporate Charity Cup, Community Service Day, Community Champion Awards, etc.
- Assist with sponsor recruitment, registration, set-up/tear down and promotions for the event, and take photos/videos, etc.
- Coordinate chamber videos as needed to effectively promote Chamber initiatives and Chamber endorsed awards presented to members.
- Visit meeting venues and concessionaires and negotiate contracts.
- Collaborate with team and work to secure Leadership program registrations/event registrations and sponsorships that meet or exceed budget goals.
Communications
- Work with the Chamber team and help lead the communication and marketing of events.
- Create and implement a strategic communication plan to include all of DCC’s target audiences, including outreach to members, issue advocacy and consumer information that furthers the Chamber’s mission. Enhance the public’s knowledge of the purpose and role of the Chamber of Commerce.
- Write daily social media posts, emails, a business magazine/publication (printed and digital), annual business directory, press releases and membership campaign communications.
- Draft event scripts, agendas, and PowerPoint presentations.
- Update website and online calendar of events daily.
- Track website, email and social media metrics (engagement, page visits, etc.) and provide reports and recommendations to COO, Communication Committees, and member advertisers on a monthly basis.
- Understand and keep abreast of all member benefits and calendar of chamber events, committee meetings, and programs to ensure they are communicated on time and on brand.
- Promote, sell, and track advertisements for the Chamber newsletter, website, directory, etc. to meet or exceed yearly budgeted income.
- Communicate the benefits of Chamber membership.
- Create member and/or community surveys as needed.
- Update office procedures for communication efforts as needed and any responsibilities to keep all “how to” reports and playbooks current and maintain project plans.
Other Responsibilities:- Maintain open, team oriented, professional relationships with DCC staff, customers, members and vendors.
- Attend all required events and meetings, including staff meetings and Chamber events.
- Be a team player and available to work with other team members with annual Chamber-wide projects, including but not limited to Taste of Dublin, Golf Classic, Corporate Charity Cup, etc.
- Complete other tasks, as assigned.

Work Environment:- This position works within a small, very fast-paced professional office environment. Individual must be able to work independently. Professionalism and discretion are required.
- Position will be required to answer a telephone, assist members while they are guests in our conference facility, organize and clean up following member meetings and make sure the office is open to serve our membership daily.
- Some travel within the city to support organization’s needs, etc., is expected.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to meet the following physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation: 1) Sit, walk, stand, use hands to manipulate, handle, feel, and control items or equipment; 2) Reach with hands and arms; 3) Talk and hear; 4) See and be able to read, write, and interpret text, spreadsheet, and graphical documents; 5) Occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
