  • Voter Registration Deadline for May 6 Primary/Special Election is April 7

    (Columbus) Franklin County residents not registered to vote have until 9:00 p.m. on April 7 to be eligible to vote in the May 6 Primary/Special Election. That same deadline applies to registered voters who need to update their voter registration with a new address or have a name change. These address and name updates will ensure that a voter will not have to vote a provisional ballot.
    All 298 Franklin County voting locations will be open May 6 due to State Issue 2, the proposed statewide amendment to the Ohio Constitution to issue bonds for public infrastructure projects. Additionally, Franklin County voters will see candidate and local issues in the following communities:

    • City of Columbus voters will have the opportunity to cast a ballot in a non-partisan primary for Columbus City Council District 7

    • Columbus City School voters will have the opportunity to cast a ballot in a non-partisan primary for Columbus City School Board

    • City of Hillard voters will have the opportunity to cast a ballot in a Hilliard City Council Democrat primary

    • City of Whitehall Ward 2 voters will have the opportunity to cast a ballot in a non-partisan primary for Whitehall City Council Ward 2

    • Other municipal tax levy issues and local liquor options

    Below are the requirements one must meet to be a qualified voter:

    • You are a citizen of the United States

    • You will be at least 18 years old on or before the day of the next general election

    • You must be a resident of Ohio for at least 30 days immediately before the election in which you want to vote

    • You are not incarcerated for a felony conviction under the laws of this state, another state, or the United States

    • You have not been declared incompetent for voting purposes by a probate court 

    • You have not been permanently disenfranchised for violating the election laws

    To register or update your registration online please visit http://voteohio.gov. Registrants will need to provide the following:

    • Ohio driver’s license or Ohio identification card number

    • Name

    • Date of Birth

    • Address

    • Last four digits of your Social Security number

    The Franklin County Board of Elections, located at 1700 Morse Road, will remain open on April 7 until 9:00 p.m. for voters to register or deliver their completed forms to our office. Registrations by mail are acceptable if they are postmarked no later than Monday, April 7, 2025.
