August 25, 2025Tolles Career & Technical Center to Break Ground on $30 Million Expansion
50,000-square-foot addition will expand career-technical opportunities for students in Central Ohio
PLAIN CITY, OHIO —Tolles Career & Technical Center will host a public groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. to celebrate the start of construction on a 50,000-square-foot, $30 million expansion of its campus.
The project, funded through local support, will add state-of-the-art labs and learning spaces for Tolles’ pre-nursing, early childhood education, welding, and construction programs. The new additions will be built on two sides of the existing facility, allowing the district to serve more students and meet the growing workforce needs of Central Ohio.
“This project is more than bricks and mortar – it’s an investment in Ohio’s future,” said Dr. Todd F. Hoadley, Superintendent of Tolles Career & Technical Center. “By expanding our programs, we are preparing the next generation of skilled workers, healthcare professionals, and educators who will strengthen our local economy and lead our communities forward. For more than 50 years, Tolles has proudly served our students and community, and this milestone builds upon that rich legacy.” The expansion will be designed and built in partnership with Fanning & Howey Architects and Ruscilli Construction.
The event program will include remarks from Superintendent Hoadley, Board of Education President Angie Bouic, a student representative, and Jesse Fry, Construction Technologies Instructor. Preschool students from Tolles’ Early Childhood Education program will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
Several elected officials, school board members, and community partners are expected to attend.
