City of Dublin

A message from Mayor Tim Lecklider

The City of Dublin recognizes that in order to have a strong economic environment, you need a strong community that supports and encourages growth and innovation. Dublin is extremely fortunate to have leaders, business owners, educators and residents who all share a vision for economic success and embrace innovative solutions for enhancing our residential and business community.

Our legacy of success and dedication to delivering exceptional public services has been recognized both locally and nationally. And during a time when many municipalities have been forced to reduce services, the City of Dublin is financially healthy and very fortunate thanks to conservative, long-term fiscal planning.

In 2010, the independent National Citizen Survey reported Dublin residents rated their community higher as a place to live than people from more than 300 communities nationwide participating in the survey. The satisfaction level of Dublin residents is the greatest and most important measure of the work we are doing to achieve our mission as a community.

Dublin also received rave reviews from Fox Business News proclaiming Dublin the “No. 1 City in the U.S. to Start a Business,” and a New York-based think tank recognized the city as a Top Seven Intelligent Community in 2010 and 2011 based on success factors such as broadband connectivity, knowledge workforce, digital inclusion, innovation, marketing and advocacy. Dublin has also been named one of the top-ranked local governments in the 10th annual Digital Cities Survey.

While we're proud of our achievements, we remain committed to preserving an extraordinary quality of life and ensuring the long-term competiveness of our community. Top 2011 priorities for Dublin City Council include investing in economic development and capital improvement projects like roads, bikeways and infrastructure; building a strong financial base; and delivering quality services to our residents and corporate citizens.

One priority initiative is the Bridge Street Corridor, which is in its beginning phases of implementation. The Bridge Street Corridor project reflects housing and lifestyle shifts from changing work force demographics and is congruent with City Council's goal to redevelop the community’s central core, create a vibrant and walkable environment with a dynamic mix of land uses and housing types and enhance the City's long-term sustainability.

Another priority is to develop a 21st century learning environment, combining library and educational facilities, which will provide opportunities for lifelong learning, educational synergies and support the City’s economic development, while advancing the community’s quality of life.

City initiatives important to job growth such as the Dublin Entrepreneurial Center, started in partnership with TechColumbus in 2009, continue to advance innovative start-up companies while the Green Integrator offers companies addressing sustainable issues an environment to develop and thrive. We recognize that it is Dublin’s business community that ultimately drives our revenues and our ability to continue to offer extraordinary services and amenities.

We would like to thank Dublin residents and businesses and all those that contribute to our community's long-term success. We look forward to continuing to serve this world-class community in the best interest of the people today – and tomorrow.
