Sundays at Scioto hosted by the Dublin Arts CouncilName: Sundays at Scioto hosted by the Dublin Arts CouncilDate: July 21, 2019Event Description:
The 36th annual DAC Sundays at Scioto summer concert series will take place on eight consecutive Sunday evenings, June 9 – July 28, 2019 in the Scioto Park amphitheater, 7377 Riverside Dr., in Dublin.
Sundays at Scioto concerts showcase local and regional performing artists that include almost every musical taste, from pop, country and rock to traditional Celtic music. Concerts begin at 7 p.m. and conclude at approximately 8:30 p.m. each week. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged, and guests are invited to arrive early to choose their favorite spot. The concerts are free of charge and donations are graciously accepted.
The annual summer concert series is of historical significance to Dublin Arts Council, which was formed after an ad hoc committee brought the Columbus Symphony Orchestra to the dedication of Scioto Park in 1983. The park is also home to Leatherlips, the first public artwork of DAC’s Dublin Art in Public Places program. The 12-foot high native limestone sculpture of the Wyandot Indian Chief has overlooked the park’s amphitheatre since 1990.
The 36th annual DAC Sundays at Scioto summer concert series will be presented by Dublin Arts Council with support from corporate contributions, federal and state arts funding, along with contributions of in-kind services and an annual endowment of hotel/motel tax from the city of Dublin.
The 2019 performing artists have been selected and are being contracted. If you are a performing artist who is interested in applying to perform in 2020, details can be found here.
