Business Retention & Expansion Survey - Dublin Chamber of Commerce
Because of the city’s dependence on income tax revenues—which accounted for more than $70.2 million, or 90 percent of all of the city’s operating revenues in 2008—business retention and expansion are necessary to support city services. Therefore, commercial activity is a critical aspect of the City of Dublin’s community planning process.
Recognizing the importance of the business community, and the fact that studies have shown that pre-existing businesses within the community account for an average of 78 percent of new jobs created, the Dublin Chamber of Commerce continually surveys its membership on an as-needed basis.
A member of the Ohio Business Retention & Expansion Initiative, the Dublin Chamber of Commerce has formed a task force including Chamber members, Dublin city government, Dublin City Schools and local businesses to closely watch local issues that affect Dublin business.
The BR&E Task Force believes that the Dublin Chamber of Commerce is the voice for the business community. Together, the Chamber and the City of Dublin will work to address the business community’s concerns. In addition, the Chamber will continue to offer events and opportunities for small business owners to network, interact and share ideas with community leaders. Ideas generated by these discussions can be integrated into a plan of action that fits with the overall strategic plan for the city.
